Marketing tricks never works on me, but I'm tempted to open a savings acct with this company because this seems legit (ING is huge). I get this pamphlet in the mail weekly.

It's a savings acct with 4.5% interest rate.
No transfer fees, no minimum acct balances, no nothing.

It would basically be your checking acct. Just transfer money over to your acct periodically-which is something I do now, but my bank sent me a letter saying there is a federal law that prohibits more than 3 transactions per month out of the savings acct to another acct.

Bueller...bueller......bueller....anyone

I have two accounts at ING and have for the past 2 years....I even have my mortage through them....I can't say enough good things about it.....Where can you get 4.5% percent with NO min balance??? No where excpet ING... Bank is the 4th largest savings bank......Money is secure and I transfer money in and out often....The only catch if you will, is it takes two days to get your money when you transfer it out.....NO big deal I can see there, but if you ever need it ASAP...it is going to take 2 days...Just wanted to say the one negative I have found...If anyone else sees different let me know
And that part about 3 trasactions a month is NOT true...I bleive the number is 6....Check your bank....They may have a bank rule, but NOT federal..they are hiding behind that BS

I have also had a saving account with ING for a couple of years and would recommend them as well.

I think the law is 6.....but it is 3 from your savings to checking. At least that's what the letter said.......too much tampering with the savings acct obviously screws with a banks investing activities-that's why I wanted to make sure ING didn't have any catches.

Sounds like I'll be going in..I'm assuming you can easily transfer funds online.........but it takes two days.

5.26%? Wow.

10K minimum understandable

That is better than a CD..........................there must be some serious withdrawal or transfer fees or limited number of transactions!

there is no minimum at UFB...at least for the account I have. here i found the blog where i found out about them. check here:

http://bankdeals.blogspot.com/2007/03/bank-deals-weekly-summary-for-march-24.html

the guy breaks down all these Moneymarket accounts and who pays the highest interest and what not. Click next to the bank name where it ways "post" to read his writeup on each.

UFB was what i went with since it was no minimum balance...which is needed for a broke degenerate like myself.

The catch with UFB is that it'll cost you $20 to get a cashiers check out of the account or transfer funds to another checking account. The only way you can transfer money out without paying a fee is by opening a checking account with them online. That's what i did...and the only time i needed to pull money out of the account i just transfered it from the savings to the checking...and then sent myself a check through the online bill pay.

The moneymarket saving account does come with an ATM card...but the most cash you can take out is $500 a day. But they don't charge you ATM fees...you only gotta pay the $2 to the bank you're taking money from.

It might be too much of a hassel...but if your main objective is to just throw some money into a savings account and earn some interest, its not a bad deal.

6 transactions is a federal thing. I work in a bank. If you make more than 6, they'll just charge a fee. You won't be getting "Paris Hiltoned"

ING is legit. They have real checking accounts now too, but with no paper checks, so you dont have to worry about that 6 withdrawal thing. I keep my normal checking account for my direct deposit and rent checks. Everything else I toss in the ING.

Also, if you ever have to call customer service, they have REAL PEOPLE that answer the phone. No hitting 0 a hundred times or talking to some indian guy in Bangahoe.
